22 december 2001. Concert with:

  • Alexandra Gelpke, flute; Marco Rossetti, piano;
  • Guitar orchestra conducted by Serena Rinaldi

Christmas 2001: a Christmas play by the Radicondoli nursery school children

17 January 2002, St Anthony , Patron Saint of animals:
on 20 January, Rev Franco Ranieri, parish priest of Radicondoli, says a mass where according to a local, ancient tradition he blesses all the surrounding animals, crops, seeds and gatherings.

January 2002:
weekly music classes for adults and children begin at the convent.

  • Violin taught by Davide Nannoni
  • Piano taught by Marco Rossetti
  • Guitar taught by Serena Rinaldi
  • Rhythmic taught by Alexandra Gelpke

28 January - 1 February 2002:
"New pathways for violin teaching ": Five pupils from the Radicondoli nursery school have an opportunity to spend five afternoons with Marianne Reitz a Swiss violinist from Zurich. These classes are filmed.

2 February 2002:
Marianne Reitz holds a seminar for the teachers of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole (Fiesole Music School) on her violin teaching method set-up for pre-school children. This seminar is also filmed and shown on the Swiss television channel TSI in March 2002.

10 - 14 June 2002:
intensive music and drama course ( three hours a day ) for students of piano, violin, and rhythmic in preparation for the staging of the end of the year concert-show.

15 June 2002:
"Il pescatore e sua moglie" (The fisherman and his wife). A musical fairy tale as told, sung and played by the children of Radicondoli.

30 June - 14 July 2002:
"International Chamber Music Weeks" for young musicians playing violin, viola, violoncello and pianoforte (aged 11 - 17). Organised by Dulcimer Fondation pour la Musique and The Crowden School, Berkley, California.

31 July 2002:
Radicondoli Art Festival "Estate a Radicondoli":
Violin and pianoforte concert by Veronica Kadlubkiewicz (violin) and Andrea Passigli (piano).

8 August 2002:
Repeat of "The fisherman and his wife" to coincide with the Radicondoli Art Festival

16 September 2002:
start of 2002-2003 music classes. A new course on percussion is also added and taught by Maestro Marzio Del Testa.

From Friday 29 November to Sunday 1 December 2002: Weekend boarding workshop of children attending the Dipartimento per l'Educazione Musicale per l'Infanzia (DEMI) (department for the musical education of childhood) of the Fiesole Music School.

20 december 2002:
a short concert "Concertino di Natale" was held by the pupils of the Convento.

2003

15 - 21 June 2003
A week packed with music for children aged 7-11. A great opportunity for children to play music together in a fun, creative and relaxed environment. They will also be able to take part in recreational activities such as swimming, badminton and nature walks.

28 June 2003:
"Le avventure di Pippo Camillo". Story made up and performed by the pupils of the Convento.

2 August 2003:
repeat of "Le avventure di Pippo Camillo" to coincide with the Radicondoli Art Festival.

7 August 2003:
Festival "Estate a Radicondoli":
"Concert with words".
Michele Porzio - piano.
Music by Cage, Schumann, Perniachi, Brahms, Rachmaninov

3 October 2003:
start of 2003-2004 weekly music classes. Two new courses are also added: Flute taught by Maestro Alexandra Gelpke, and Violin and ensemble music, taught by Maestro Fabio Torriti.

XVI congress of the
Associazione Primatologica Italiana (the Italian Primatological Association) organised in collaboration with the Centro Studi Etologici.

19 December 2003 Concertino di Natale
a short concert "Concertino di Natale" was held by the pupils of the Convento.

21 December 2003: Concerto di Natale
A.Gi.Mus. - Associazione Giovanile Musicale (Juvenile Musical Association) and Dulcimer Fondation pour la Musique present:
"Concerto di Natale" - the most enchanting Christmas carols especially arranged by M° A.Farolfi for AgimusArte.
This concert is the replica of the "Concerto di Natale" scheduled in the "Careggi in Musica" program, and played the same day in Florence (Careggi Hospital, Auditorium of Medical Clinic).


2004

II. Ensemble musical weekend for children aged 7-11 that have been playing a musical instrument for at least three years.

6 March 2004, 17:00 hours
Lesson-concert. Ensemble of five clarinets CALAMUS - Istituto Musicale Vincenzo Bellini, in collaboration with Dulcimer Fondation pour la Musique.
Music by C.P.E. Bach, Mozart, Strauss, Weill, Shostakovich, Morricone, Garner, McCartney, Lennon.

8 -9 April
III. Ensemble musical weekend for children aged 7-11 that have been playing a musical instrument for at least three years.

12 - 19 June 2004
A week packed with music for children aged 7-11. A great opportunity for children to play music together in a fun, creative and relaxed environment. They will also be able to take part in recreational activities such as swimming, badminton and nature walks.

21 - 26 June 2004
Intensive music course for children who have been attending music lessons during the 2003-2004 school year.

26 th of June: End of year concert. "La storia dei tre cristalli" (The story of the three crystals"), made up and performed by the children.

Summer camps

Summer chamber music camp of the
Crowden School

From 30 June to 15 July 2002: The Convent hosted the summer camp of the Crowden School, Berkley, California. 26 students attended (23 American and 3 Italian). These were days of intensive chamber musical experience for the young participants who were guided by four musicians (Anne Crowden and Brigitte Mancini - violin ; Fabio Torriti - viola and Julie Feldman - violoncello). During their free afternoons they went swimming in the Cecina river and played football with the local young people.
Saturday 6 July some students played small concerts in various shops and in the main square of Radicondoli. The day after the whole group played in a concert at the cathedral of S.Giminiano.
The camp ended with a concert in the church of the Convent of Radicondoli.

Associazione Primatologica Italiana (the Italian Primatological Association) was held at the Convento dell'Osservanza, organised in collaboration with the Centro Studi Etologici.

IPS 2004 satellite conferences

The 2004 IPS World Conference of the International Primatological Society, took place in Turin in August 2004 (organised by the Department of Animal and Human Biology, Torino University). In concomitance, the Centro Studi Etologici and Ethoikos, in collaboration with other institutions are organised two minor international thematic conferences at the Convento dell'Osservanza premises.
